J.P. Nagar and its surrounding areas are home to many migrants from rural parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.
Most residents are employed in the informal sector, working in hospitality, construction, and welding. Education levels in the community are generally low, with most individuals having completed school only up to the 8th grade. Many girls drop out early due to parental concerns about the safety of public transportation. Early marriage is also common, with some girls being married off as young as 15. The lack of sex education contributes to high rates of teenage pregnancies. Additionally, substance abuse among men in the community often leads to domestic conflict, leaving many women abandoned or widowed.
