Jakrem is a large village in South West Khasi Hills, known for its natural hot springs. The community mainly consists of farmers and some daily labourers. Due to its harsh climate near Mawsynram, they grow only rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and a few local vegetables, mostly for household use.
A key challenge is youth dropping out of school to work. We are encouraging them to develop their skills and broaden their outlook to explore new ways of earning through their talents.
