About the project

The Chief Minister’s Youth Centre (CMYC) Program is a flagship initiative of the Government of Meghalaya, implemented in partnership with Sauramandala Foundation and Project DEFY. It aims to provide young people with free, open-access spaces to develop innovation, problem-solving, and design skills.

Located within rural communities, these centres are equipped with tools, activities, and resources that enable meaningful community engagement. Each CMYC has three core components: a Nook (self-designed learning space), a library, and sports facilities.

Currently, there are 22 CMYC-Nooks across Meghalaya, forming part of the global Nook network and actively serving rural communities throughout the state.
