Problem Statement:
The robotic and non-critical nature of our education system is killing our youth's future?
Schools were designed to produce obedient factory workers during industrialization.
Students follow instructions, limiting critical thinking and creativity.
The focus is on employment, not personal passion or motivation.
A new education approach is needed, fostering creativity and personal growth.
Program Goals:
At DEFY, we are aiming to create a critical mass of edu-innovators who believe in re-imagining learning and the education system.
It is imperative that we prepare our educators to build the new world of our dreams. If we want to effect any fundamental change in the education system, it has to begin at the level of the educators.
DARE is a 12-month program of self-discovery, ideation, community immersion, and experimentation to help fellows design disruptive solutions that create access to quality learning and help individuals create their own learning spaces in marginalized communities.
Each year motivated individuals will be selected to become Extraordinary Problem-Solvers. These DARE Fellows will create alternative systems in education and other domains of community support.
