Katchipedu village in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, has around 5,120 residents. Once home to nine interlinked ponds, most are now dried or damaged, leaving the village dependent on a single tank for drinking water—forcing some to walk over five kilometers.
Limited access to education and social support has led many to abandon their aspirations, fueling a cycle of poverty, frustration, and unrest, especially among the youth.
