Matibi is a communal land located in Southern Zimbabwe in Mwenezi, Masvingo District. The area experiences low and erratic rainfall patterns characterised by dry spells. One of the community’s major challenges is poverty, with more than half of the population living below the poverty line. The main sources of income are from agricultural activities and reliance on remittances from the diaspora and locals. The majority of young people lie idle without job opportunities and drop out of school due to financial constraints that do not allow them to further their education.
