Our culture

culture iuue 2

We strongly believe that “means” are as important as the “ends”, and that achieving great things in one domain while destroying or disintegrating others does not exemplify true greatness.

We, therefore, care deeply about our partners, donors, communities, and most importantly, our team.
We do not believe that social change must feel like a great sacrifice, or that in order to solve problems for others, one must ignore problems in their own lives.
We want our team members to have happy and satisfying lives, not only in purpose but also in material living.
lessons 1
We try to pay our people as well as we can and do not accept projects that downplay the efforts and experiences our team members bring to the table.

Decision-Making Approach

We prioritize decisions that benefit communities first, then the organization. In conflicts, we always choose the community’s success.

Our Belief System

We trust our approach and prefer doing things our way, even if it goes against the norm. If we can't, our existence doesn't matter.

Embracing Growth & Experimentation

We trust our approach and prefer doing things our way, even if it goes against the norm. If we can't, our existence doesn't matter.

Commitment to Learning & Change

We embrace change through evidence and trial, not out of fear of financial loss or stagnation. The Nook concept has evolved since 2014.

Our Flexibility & Values

Being small makes us flexible, but we stay true to our values. We avoid projects driven by income and resist pressures to compromise our direction. We don’t exist just to grow.

We strongly believe that “means” are as important as the “ends”, and that achieving great things in one domain while destroying or disintegrating others does not exemplify true greatness. We, therefore, care deeply about our partners, donors, communities and most importantly, our team
In making decisions, we check if the decision is first positive for the communities we work with and then worry if it is positive for the organisation. In conflict, we must choose the success of the community, and this is a reminder we keep giving ourselves time and again
